Meet Buzz Health’s Newest Board Member: Raj Ramaswamy

It’s my pleasure to welcome Raj Ramaswamy as a Buzz Health Board Member. As we continue to grow, it’s critical that our Board includes leaders with proven experience defining a vision that they can build and scale under real-world conditions. Raj is one of those leaders, and his influence is already foundational to Buzz Health’s growth and strategic direction. 

Raj brings more than 25 years of experience in enterprise technology, including 15 years in the prescription healthcare sector. Throughout his career, Raj has led large-scale software initiatives spanning platform architecture, system design, budget and resource management, operation and process establishment, vendor and client relations, and highly-regulated security and compliance environments. His background includes a deep understanding of the complex prescription benefit management process, including pricing, adjudication, insurance benefits, formulary, prior authorization, and pharmacy networks.

Prior to joining Buzz Health, Raj served as Director of Technology at a major PBM, where he led the development of core technology platforms to support large-scale operations while adhering to strict security and compliance requirements. His experience supporting high-volume transactions in a tightly regulated environment helped shape his pragmatic, execution-driven approach to healthcare technology.

When Raj joined Buzz Health over four years ago, we were at a pivotal moment with ambitious goals that required scaling technical resources quickly. Raj recognized that building a platform capable of supporting millions of daily API calls and high-volume prescription transactions would require disciplined investment. 

One of Raj’s first priorities was developing our dynamic pricing API, the foundation of Buzz Health’s product suite. That initiative led to the creation of the RxCompare technology platform and suite of APIs, allowing configurable pricing rules tailored to each partner’s needs. In the following years, Raj scaled the technology organization from a handful of engineers to a large team of in-house technology & operational professionals, supported by specialized contractors, while continuing to expand platform capabilities. 

As the platform matured, Raj led the development of one of Buzz Health’s most complex initiatives: a proprietary real-time adjudication platform. Built over two years of intensive architecture and development work, the system enables cash-discount and manufacturer coupon claims to be adjudicated at the point of sale. Often evaluating multiple pricing and routing options simultaneously, the platform can return results in under one second. Today, more than 99% of transactions meet that performance benchmark, even under significant transaction volume.

Alongside product innovation, Raj established the security and compliance foundation required to operate at scale. Under his leadership, Buzz Health built customized, HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure, implemented enterprise-grade security controls, introduced SOC reporting, and achieved HITRUST certification across multiple products. These efforts ensure that partners can rely on Buzz Health to protect sensitive data while delivering fast, accurate, and dependable performance.

As a Board member, Raj will continue to lead and improve the technology that powers our modular suite of prescription savings solutions. His priorities include increasing system capacity to support continued growth and advancing toward near-zero downtime even during upgrades and outages.
